There's a connection of some sort between Cid Meteor and 'Cid' of the war.
Cid Meteor though was trained, in his family's dojo. In the US. He grew up with kung-fu and hip hop being very prevalent in his formative years. Although he's more prone to rock and metal, the martial arts stuck.
Of course he insists his upbringing was in a monastery of hip hop monks.

My characters name is Hideyoshi a.k.a. Ama-No-Murakumo (Gathering clouds of Heaven) a transfer student.
Air element. Martial arts Expert. Specialty:Hand-to-hand combat.
Makes Cloud his rival and is the 1st guy to get him into Drill Sergeant Mode
And other stuff.
